Portrait of the director Benjamin ClaassenWelcome,

We are excited that you want to learn about the incredible opportunities that SCA has to offer.  Shasta Charter Academy, formerly Shasta Secondary Home School, began operating in 1999, as a charter school of Shasta Union High School District.  While our campus is located in Redding, California, we are able to serve students in Shasta, Trinity, Tehama, Siskiyou, Modoc, Plumas, and Lassen counties.  We meet the educational needs of our students using an educational model called Personalized Learning.  Using six different methods of instruction, including homeschooling, and taking into account student learning styles and educational or career goals, we create learning plans specific to each student's needs.  Students are partnered with a fantastic California certificated teacher, who we call a facilitator, that is trained in Personalized Learning.  In regular, scheduled in person meetings, the facilitator will discuss and plan all the student's classes, teach and test the student for their assigned courses, and train the parent/s in supporting and instructing his or her student at home.  Most of our staff have been with the school for over 10 years and we would love to be able to share with you how we teach our students.  The school is WASC accredited and the school offers UC a-g approved curriculum, so that  graduates can be accepted directly to the UC and CSU system.  Please contact us today so we can answer all your questions about our school and see if Personalized Learning with Shasta Charter Academy is right for you!

Sincerely,

Benjamin Claassen
